Our Partners

The Surgical Collaborative of Wisconsin (SCW) brings together organizations from across Wisconsin to support surgical quality improvement, data-driven practice change, education, and collaboration. Since its founding in 2017, SCW has worked with organizations that provide administrative support, data, expertise, and connections to Wisconsin’s surgical and healthcare communities.

Administration

SCW is jointly supported by UW Health and the University of Wisconsin–Madison Department of Surgery, which provide the administrative, academic, and data infrastructure that supports the Collaborative’s statewide work.

UW Health

UW Health serves as SCW’s administrative home and provides operational and organizational support for the Collaborative’s quality improvement, education, and engagement activities.

UW-Madison Department of Surgery

The Department of Surgery provides academic, data, and quality improvement infrastructure that supports SCW’s work to improve surgical care across Wisconsin. The Department also houses SCW’s Data Coordinating Center, which manages datasets and conducts the analyses used to develop confidential, benchmarked performance reports for participating hospitals and surgeons.

Statewide Partners

SCW works with the following statewide organizations that provide data, expertise, and connections that support our quality improvement and educational efforts.

Wisconsin Hospital Association

The Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) and WHA Information Center support SCW’s quality improvement efforts through statewide hospital discharge data. These data allow SCW to evaluate surgical care and provide confidential, benchmarked performance reports to participating hospitals and surgeons.

Wisconsin Health Information Organization

The Wisconsin Health Information Organization (WHIO) provides statewide healthcare claims data that help SCW understand patterns of care, healthcare utilization, costs, and opportunities to improve surgical care across Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Surgical Society

The Wisconsin Surgical Society (WSS) connects SCW with Wisconsin’s surgical community and supports opportunities for surgeon engagement, education, collaboration, and the sharing of best practices.

Founding Organizations

SCW was formally established through a Memorandum of Agreement among organizations representing Wisconsin’s surgical, hospital, academic, and healthcare communities. We recognize the organizations whose representatives were signatories to the agreement establishing the Collaborative.
