Accreditation & Certification Opportunities

The SCW Coordinating Center is working with several certification and accreditation organizations to accept participation in SCW quality improvement activities as a way to meet surgeon requirements. One such effort has been with the Commission on Cancer. Thanks to Amanda Kong, Chair of the Wisconsin Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer (CoC), facilities that participate in the SCW breast reoperation initiative and receive benchmarked reoperation rates can use this activity as one part of meeting CoC Standard 4.7: Studies of Quality.

Facilities previously meeting or seeking accreditation with the ACS National Accreditation Programs for Breast Cancers (NAPBC), must comply with the Quality and Outcomes standards, which currently require three center studies and one physician quality improvement program. Participating in the SCW breast reoperation initiative can also help you meet this standard for your facility.
