This course is intended to serve as a comprehensive guide for acute pain management and opioid stewardship by a surgical prescriber.
The American College of Surgeons designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. The credit claiming deadline for this activity is May 5, 2027.

Program Objectives
This activity is designed for physicians. Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Analyze the science and clinical implications of post-operative pain management
- Understand persistent post-operative pain and harm reduction
- Implement prescribing strategies for opioid naive patients, opioid tolerant patients, and patients with opioid use disorder
- Develop a strategy for managing acute pain in patients receiving chronic medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD)
- Identify high-risk scenarios for opioid-related adverse events and implement appropriate harm-reductions strategies
